Liturgical Musician

The son of two United Methodist ministers, Andrew began playing piano and organ in churches at the age of thirteen. After moving to Baltimore in 2000, he played in the contemporary band at the Church of the Nativity in Timonium, Maryland for ten years before becoming the Director of Music Ministries (both traditional and contemporary) at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Parkton, a position he held until 2021. He is equally well versed in the musical liturgy of Reform Judaism; he has been the accompanist at Temple Shalom in Chevy Chase, Maryland since 2009 and has worked with prominent composers of Jewish sacred music including Lisa Levine, Julie Silver, Robbie Solomon, and Rick Recht.

Composer

While primarily a performer, Andrew has also produced a sizable body of original works including liturgical settings, educational shows, and several operas. As a teacher at the four-week Maryland Opera Camp each summer he works with high school students to develop and then perform an original one-act opera. (Click here to view the final product from 2020, "Lifelong: A Virtual Song Cycle.")

Andrew's settings of sacred texts have been used for worship services thousands of times. He also had the honor in 2010 of writing the signature song for There Goes My Hero, an organization dedicated to increasing enrollment on the National Bone Marrow Registry. He is available for hire as a composer, lyricist, or consultant.
